Job description
Under the supervision and guidance of the Coordinator of the Centre for Women in Himalayas, and in close coordination with the Director and management team of Norlha, the Assistant will participate in all steps of the process leading to the design of the functions, and launching of activities, of the Centre, and in particular:
·assist the Coordinator in the final drafting of the Concept Note of the Centre, taking into account the consultations among Norlha's staff regarding the content and scope of this Concept Note;
·cooperate in the organisation of Norlha Symposium on Women in Himalayas to be held on 4 November, as well as with the consultations with donors and partners before and after the Symposium;
·assist the Coordinator in drafting the Project Document of the Centre and in submitting it to relevant donors;
·research and analyses of information, in cooperation with the Kathmandu Office of Norlha, on the current (post-earthquake) assistance priorities and medium - term plans of the development agencies based in Nepal and in Bhutan regarding gender issues;
·according to the Coordinator's guidance, cooperate with Norlha's Head of Communication in the dissemination of the Centre as a new initiative of Norlha;
·assist the Coordinator in any other task related to the design and launching of the Centre in the next six months.
Candidate Profile
·Academic / professional requirements: BSc or equivalent in social sciences, preferably with experience in development cooperation.
·Skills: drafting skills in English, gender-sensitiveness, team spirit, interest in innovative endeavors, in creating new initiatives and new development aid mechanisms.
· Valid work permit.
